Hello everyone! I’m super excited to be blogging today and showing you a quick project I just finished for the blog tour!
This is the DIY rug from my book, Sew Home. I think it’s the project that I’ve made the most from the book. In fact, I probably have at least 7-8 different rugs for my kitchen, front door, and bathroom. I LOVE all purpose cloth! It doesn’t fray, is super durable, and waterproof. (Which means if you wanted to paint on it, the paint won’t soak through!) When Bari J at Curated Maximalist asked me to make something with her new fabric, Indigo & Aster, I KNEW that it had to be turned into a rug! (I’m pretty sure I need an entire bolt of that center floral to make a HUGE rug for my breakfast nook with!)
My favorite things about this project are that there’s NO sewing, it takes 90 minutes (plus drying time), and it’s kid, stain, and pet proof when it’s finished! (And when I mean pet proof, I seriously mean it… not minutes before I went to take this photo I was styling things and my cat came by to deposit a hairball… right on the rug! Wiped up super easy with no fuss!)
The other great thing about it is that you can use one large scale fabric, or cut and make different patterns! I’ve done Half Square Triangles, varying width stripes, and seasonal fabric rugs! If you want all the specific details, you’ll find it in Sew Home! Keep yourself updated on my other sewing and crafting shenanigans on IG: @eschlosser

A rug!! Such a great idea, but I would have a hard time walking on something so pretty.
