Things have been quiet around here the last few weeks, but it's not for lack of projects going on! I've been busy with some great projects for Quilt Market (Less than 8 weeks away, eek!), and working on a couple of projects for the lovely ladies at Pretty Prudent, Jacinda and Jaime! Little sneak peek! I can't wait to share the projects with you, but alas, you'll have to wait until Market for the new patterns and the release of an entire new product line! Next Fall will be the release of the Pretty Prudent book. Only hint I can give you is a link to Jacinda's Spoonflower shop! Sorry! Oh, and did I mention that I'm now part of … [Read more...]
Vroom! Scooter Applique
Last week I made the cutest applique pouch for a friend... and got so excited to send it to her I didn't take a finished picture. Sad. But I do have this picture of it in progress! I though I'd share the applique design I sketched up if anyone wanted to use it. It's the perfect size for a zippered pouch, onesie, place mats, napkins, or wallet! In the download I have all the individual pieces (already reversed for tracing onto the back of your Heat'n Bond!), and a little placement diagram so you can see how all the pieces layer and fit together. You can download the PDF of the Scooter here! Happy Sewing! … [Read more...]
Sewing Machine Apron Reveal
I've got a new pattern out! Yay! This pattern first came about when I needed a handmade gift for an exchange at CityCraft for our Christmas party a couple of years ago. Since the first one, I've made a few more, used it for a bit, and made a few adjustments to make it the ultimate tool storage apron! Now it's 100% ready for you! As usual you can purchase either the printed copy or a PDF that will be emailed to you directly following your purchase. Find the patterns here. The front has 8 pockets in varying sizes for holding all your most used tools. The thread bin has a tiny pocket, just the right size for your thread snipper! It … [Read more...]
Travel Sewing Camp
Whew! It was a super busy week last week! I had an all day Travel themed sewing camp that I taught. These girls and I were together from 9AM-4PM everyday last week at CityCraft! I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls!! We had so much fun learning the basics, then moving into our projects for the week. Our first project was a scrappy travel tote. (Their finished ones are in the photo above.) Boy did they love digging through the scrap box and sorting the fabrics! We learned about using a rotary cutter safely, cutting pieces to specific dimensions without the use of a pattern, and a bit about applique. Next up we talked about … [Read more...]

Zoe Bag Alternate Front
This is one of my favorite bag patterns! I love the size and the ability to make so many different fronts to the bag! This is one I made a little while ago to welcome summer. Here's how to make this bag flap. (If you don't already have the pattern you can purchase the print or PDF version in the shop!) (I'll show you how to make just one block, but the cutting and directions are for 12 blocks for the front.) Cut your Pieces: Cut (12) 4 3/4" squares of your background fabric (I used a white cotton.) Cut (12) 4 3/4" squares of the accent fabrics (Use the same, or mix it up for a scrappy, yet coordinated look) Cut each of your … [Read more...]

Metallic Echino Clutch
I've been having lots of fun with some Echino Metallic fabric that Callie from CityCraft sent me to play around with. She carries it in 3 great colorways and I had such a hard time deciding what to make with them! The one on the top with the royal blue, black, and pink is destined for a project that is in the works but I used the middle one to make a Garden Party Clutch! I love how, because this is a nice heavy home decor weight fabric, I was able to forgo most of the interfacing in this pattern. I added a little medium weight to the top band and lining and didn't need anything heavier for the exterior. It's hard to tell in the photos … [Read more...]
The Secret To Movie Theater Popcorn
One of my all time favorite snack foods is popcorn! I'd eat it every day if I could! For the longest time I figured that to get the taste of movie theater popcorn at home I'd have to purchase an expensive popcorn machine. (Because, let's face it, the microwave "movie theater butter" flavor of popcorn just doesn't cut it! NEVER good the next day, not to mention that it's filled with all kinds of chemicals and if you don't eat it piping hot there's some kind of filmy texture to it!) Oh, and did I mention that popcorn is expensive at the movie theater! Imagine my surprise when I figured out exactly how easy it is to make it at home … [Read more...]
