I'm super excited to present to you the finished Laura Tote Pattern! This chic & glamorous tote is just waiting to be packed and taken to exotic locations, a picnic, or around town. It's a great size at 16" square! I can't pick just one thing that makes me so excited so I'll share a few: -This is the first pattern that I'll be offering via either PDF or Print!! (Which means I'm now accepting wholesale orders!) -This was a fun collaboration with Melissa at Iza Pearl Design. The original bag was made with her new line of fabric, Hello Gorgeous, for Windham Fabrics. (I LOVE this collection!!) "Laura" was … [Read more...]
Five Things About Me
I thought it'd be fun to play along and join in on the QuiltCon Intro linky party going on. I'm super excited to go next month and meet lots of great sewists! I've also volunteered to help with a variety of things and it'll be fun to contribute AND participate! (Oh, and let's not forget the 80's Party! Bring on the neon!!!) Alright, 5 things you may not know about me: 1. I've been sewing since I was 7 (and teaching others how to sew since High School) and come from a long and talented line of sewers including my wonderful mom and grandma! 2. I was going to go to college on a full Air Force scholarship until I went to a couple of … [Read more...]
Scrappy Monster Stuffies
Oh goodness I had such a fun time making these!! Why did I make these? My good friend Emily had a scare two years ago with one of her sons. In her words: "TWO YEARS AGO today, a real life nightmare began which started with a simple trip to the urgent care, then a frantic ambulance ride to the local Hospital, and then a promise of a LifeFlight to Primary Children’s Medical Center, only to have bad weather ruin the flying conditions, so another long and tedious ambulance ride… When it was all said and done, we were all standing around Josh, laying in a hospital bed at the ICU, and the outlook was grim." His lung was collapsed and … [Read more...]
DIY Silhouette Cameo Dust Cover
I had some requests to make a tutorial for the Silhouette Cameo dust cover I made around Christmastime. They are really quite simple! Here's what you'll need to make your own: 1 Fat Quarter for the main piece 1 Fat Quarter (or a little less) for the two side pieces Side Piece Pattern (Download here) Trim down your main piece to 22" W x 15" H. Fold your fabric for your two side pieces right sides together. Using the pattern piece, cut through both layers to get the two side pieces. Pin one side piece to the 15" side of the main piece. I'm not a huge pinner, but for this step, the more pins the better! Sew, using a … [Read more...]
Quilty Sewing Projects
I've been busy sewing up a storm lately! Here are a few of the projects I've been working on, both large and small! The guild block of the month was to make an equilateral triangle. I loved this process! I didn't win the drawing, but had fun with a new technique! For this block, and the one below, we were given a small amount of the Madrona Road line and asked to make an improv block. I realized, after cutting and slashing, sewing, and cutting some more, that I wasn't really an improv person. I like to plan things out a little better so it was actually quite stressful for me! I got frustrated with my "improv block" scrapped … [Read more...]
Double Chocolate Cookies
I tried this new recipe last week, and I have to say it's now one of my favorite cookie recipes EVER! Think delicious, moist, dark chocolate brownie bites, with melty semi-sweet chocolate chips! Seriously SO good! These would make the perfect little V-Day treat for a chocolate lover!! (The one thing I did change is the size of the cookies! The original recipe calls for each cookie to use 4 oz. of dough to make a dozen super large cookies. Using my regular cookie scoop I got a better cookie size and it made 4 dozen! Just reduce the baking time!) … [Read more...]
Christmas Gifts Revealed
Christmas is a hard time to be a crafter! I wanted for weeks to show you some of the projects I was working on, but had to wait until the recipient of the gifts got them. Don't want to ruin a surprise! (Add in both my husband and I having birthdays, New Year's Eve, a short road trip to Dallas, and other activities and it makes for a super busy season! I'm sure you can relate, though!) I don't necessarily have tutorials planned for any of these, but if there's enough interest I could probably put something together, just let me know! I used a Patty Young container file from the Silhouette store to make these little boxes. They were … [Read more...]
French Macaron Applique
Our quilt guild had a mug rug swap gift exchange at our Christmas Party this year. I went back and forth for weeks about what I wanted my mug rug to look like. I FINALLY settled on the idea that I wanted to incorporate french macarons in the project some how, as well as a fun quote. I was looking through my Quote board on Pinterest and reflected back to my very first pin: (This fun little print from Gayana on Etsy.) I thought that if I swapped out the Ice Cream for Macarons (Edited: I've had a few emails about macaron being spelled wrong. I used the french spelling: French Macaron) I'd be a happy camper, and hopefully the … [Read more...]
Chewy Ginger Cookies
The San Antonio Modern Quilt Guild had their cookie exchange this past weekend. I had so much fun seeing everyone, eating delicious food, and marveling at all the cookies! Here is the cookie recipe I shared with everyone. They are one of my favorite Christmastime cookie! The blend of cinnamon, ginger, and clove is perfect! DIY Lip Gloss These are the little stickers I made for the lip gloss using sticker paper, Becky Higgins Digital Images, and my Silhouette Cameo. The lip gloss containers were purchased from Swans Supplies on Etsy. These are so easy to make it's unbelievable! I used this tutorial. You'll need two ingredients that are easy to find! Vaseline and Crystal Light drink mix! Mix together and put in your lip gloss containers. That's it! Peppermint Foot Scrub Next up is some simple … [Read more...]
