Meet fabulous DT member Tina Fussell!
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
My name is Tina, but in the blog world everyone knows me as the Traveling Mama. We currently live in Denmark, but we lived in Morocco for three years and Spain for two. I guess after three languages you figure, what’s one more? Our Traveling Tribe includes my husband, my nine year old daughter, my five year old son, and our littlest son who is almost two.
When did you start crafting?
I have always loved making things even as a child. I made my very first scrapbook when my husband and I got engaged twelve years ago…but I didn’t really get into scrapbooking until our daughter was born. I didn’t want to forget any of those precious memories, so I started recording everything I could. But somewhere along the way I got discouraged because the pages I was making didn’t look like the ones I saw in the magazines. Somehow making cards seemed less risky… like if I messed it up then I could always just throw it away. At first I just made cards for family and friends, but when we moved to Morocco I discovered the online papercrafting community and have since learned so much! I stopped worrying about my projects being perfect and really started seeing them as art and embraced the freedom that comes with creating something from the heart.
What is your favorite embellishment for your projects?
This is tough. It’s either ink or patterned paper. Some days all I need is a stamp and some ink, but I also love playing with pattern!
What is your favorite color or color combination?
Anything that includes white. It’s my favorite color right now!
Your favorite snack food while crafting?
Since I live overseas I do not have access to most of my favorite temptations like chocolate covered gummy bears and peppermint patties… I tell myself that it’s probably for the best, but some days I really crave something sweet!
Your favorite source of inspiration?
Our travels, of course! I am humbled by the world of inspiration that we see through our travels around the world, but some days I only need to visit my backyard to find inspiration. It’s all around us… sometimes we just need to see it with fresh perspective!
Describe your style in two words. Simple. Modern.
